What it is
Fall protection on a wood frame has one hard problem: there is nothing to tie off to until the building is built. Guardrails go up after the deck, and by then the exposure is over. The Safety Pole solves the sequence. Steel bases bolt down before the first wall stands, and each time a floor deck is framed the bases move up onto it and the poles go back up. A horizontal lifeline runs between the poles above whatever deck the crew is working on. The anchorage is always one floor ahead of the exposure.
The system is made by Safety Pole, a California company that has been at it since 2004. It is modular: one pole works as a single anchor point, two poles carry a lifeline, and the whole kit moves to the next building when the roof is on.
Bases at the first deck
Two steel bases anchored at layout before framing starts: ½″ concrete anchors on a slab, the floor plate on a wood subfloor.
Bases move up with each floor
When a deck is framed, the bases relocate onto it and the poles go back up. The poles only ever need to stand above the deck being framed, so there is no limit on how tall the building can be.
Lifeline across the top
T-sections with D-rings cap the poles. A horizontal lifeline spans between them, tied back with cables so it holds where the deck is open.
Clip in and frame
Harness and self-retracting lifeline at every phase above six feet: floor decks, wall raising, truss setting, sheathing. Comes down when the roof is dried in.
Anchorage where the work is
Not at the edge of the building. Over the deck, above the crew, relocated to each new floor as it is framed.
Nothing slows down
The bases go in with layout and move up in minutes per floor. Crews tie off and keep the rhythm the schedule was built on.
Above the six-foot rule
OSHA's construction standard requires fall protection at six feet. The Safety Pole gives our people an engineered tie-off point at every height in between.
The kit
- 2 bases — ½″ × 4″ concrete anchor bolts
- 10′ sections — up to 27′ above the working deck
- 2 × 5′ sections — shorter lifts, to 17′-6″

- 6 shoes — 2×4 and 2×6 connections
